During the sixth gathering of the Academy of Immunity, we focused on what channels and influence techniques abroad political players usage to make the desired effect on Polish society. Our guests were Katarzyna Chawryło, Russian disinformation expert and Agnieszka Lipińska, the manager of the NASK Disinformation Analysis Centre.
The gathering was focused on the Russian direction, which remains the main origin of misinformation in Poland. The experts presented the statistic and trends of campaigns aimed at Polish society, and besides discussed how Russia uses global technology companies and what impact artificial intelligence has on the creation and dissemination of false content. We have besides discussed recommended actions for the Polish state, that is, what institutions can do to combat misinformation and strengthen the resilience of citizens more effectively.
Participants of the gathering besides had a chance to see examples of propaganda from Russian television, as well as from another media involving Russian speakers. In this way, it is very easy to realize how much the Russian message changes, depending on who it is directed to. We have seen, among another things, a comparatively fresh material which presents Russia as a country friendly to Poles and which ignores the subject of the war in Ukraine. specified materials, which have been gaining popularity recently, are intended to warm the image of Russia and put the audience to sleep.
We besides wondered which actions of Russian propaganda proved to be the top successes and which failures, and whether we could respond to it with our own message and whether specified counterattacks actually work.
