On Thursday, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense, reported that British Eurofighter aircraft had been picked up from Malbork Base. The nonsubjective of these fighters is to defend the airspace of Poland, the Baltic States, from the threat from Russia.

Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz said he received information from General Maciej Klisz, the commander of the Operational Forces Types, about the mission of the British Eurofighters, which were picked up from the base in Malbork to defend airspace over Poland, over the Baltic States, and a threat from the Russian Federation.

Allied fighters, stationed in Malbork and as part of the Natovian mission of Baltic Air Police in Lithuanian Saul and Estonian Amari, are engaged in patrolling space over the Baltic, Polish and Baltic states. They are intended to respond to repeated incidents in which Russian aircraft violate the NATO airspace or do not respond to calls.

Currently in Malbork, alongside Polish MiG-29 aircraft, British Eurofighters and Swedish Gripens are stationed, which support Polish aviation in the protection of airspace. For Swedes, the mission in Malbork is historical due to the fact that it is the first time that Swedish aviation is deployed outside the country.

For the British, this mission is another rotation on the east flank of NATO. By the end of July, there are six Eurofighter Typhoon fighters from the 2nd Royal Air Force Squadron from the RAF Lossiemouth base in Scotland.

On Wednesday, the NATO Air Force Allied Command (AIRCOM) reported that British fighters from Malbork were picked up in consequence to the operation of a Russian aircraft which, according to the communication, "did not comply with global safety standards". The mission was besides attended by Portuguese F-16 from the base in Estonia.

According to data from the Ministry of Defence, in 2022 Russian aircraft breached the NATO airspace more than 100 times. In consequence to these incidents, allied fighters were picked up over 50 times.

Airspace protection is 1 of the most crucial tasks of the Armed Forces. In order to guarantee the safety of Poland and the Baltic States, allied fighters are ready to choice up at any time. British Eurofighters and Swedish Gripeny are only part of global forces that support Polish aviation in the protection of airspace.

In the coming weeks, allied fighters will proceed to patrol space over Poland and the Baltic States, ready to respond to any threat. Airspace protection is simply a precedence of the Armed Forces, and allied fighters are an crucial component of the safety system.
