The Polish Army is the foundation of support for national athletics – said Brig-Gen Artur Kolosowski, manager of the MON Operations Centre, at a gathering with representatives of Polish sports unions. It discusses the principles of cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and the conditions essential to sign cooperation agreements with MON.

The Ministry of National Defence has supported the improvement of Polish athletics for years. According to MON, soldiers-sportsmen make a major contribution to the promotion of the army, and cooperation with the Polish Army is simply a chance for sports unions to get additional funds for the improvement of individual disciplines and financial safety of athletes, especially at the beginning of their career or in these little popular and profitable competitions.
The most crucial support mechanics is the anticipation for athletes to benefit from a two-track career model, which is to combine professional sports with military service. – Players are given the chance to make individually both in the sports and military professional path. Being a soldier-sportsman has many advantages, specified as financial stability, wellness care, the anticipation of conducting courses and trainings, which will let for the continuation of military service even after the end of a sports career," said Colonel Mariusz Denkewicz, Part-Chairman of the Central Military Sports Team. The head of the CGM stressed that the soldier-sportsman receives from the army, among others, hardware and logistics support. He besides pointed out that the military funds players to go to competitions and training camps, adjusts the service agenda to start and train, and after their sports careers allows them to proceed their military service e.g. as a sports instructor, coach in military units or a physical education officer.
The gathering with representatives of sports unions aimed at promoting cooperation with the military and preparing bilateral agreements on the basis of which specified cooperation could take place in the future. Shooters have been happy to join the military for years. Before the establishment of the CZZS, they represented the Polish Army as players of military teams and sports groups in Warsaw, Wroclaw, Poznań, Bydgoszcz and Gdynia – recalled Colonel Tomasz April, president of the Polish Sports Shooting Union. A gathering between representatives of sports unions and CGM staff was held at the MON Representation Centre in Helenów. It has been attended by more than 30 presidents, sports directors and board members who are liable for cooperating with the CGM and military units in which athletes serve.
