Police and ABW stopped on 7 August at Woloska Street in Warsaw a 29-year-old Russian citizen suspected of accepting an order to kill a U.S. citizen of Ukrainian origin. On August 9, the court applied three-month detention. For Poland it is simply a simple signal: the Russian hybrid war is already affecting the safety of the capital.
Stopping in Mokotów
Capital Police reported that a 29-year-old fishy had been detained 7 August at Wołoska Street in Warsaw. The action was attended by police officers of the Department to fight criminal terrorism and the killings of the Metropolitan Police Command and officers of the interior safety Agency. According to the information provided, the man was to hear allegations relating to the acceptance and preparation of the execution order.
The case is led by the territory Prosecutor's Office Warsaw Śródmieście-North. On August 9, at the request of the prosecutor, the court applied to the fishy a provisional arrest for 3 months. This is inactive a case, and a man remains a suspect, not convicted. In the regulation of law, this boundary matters, especially erstwhile it concerns abroad services and the safety of allies.
Russian order and American trail
The wider background was revealed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk. According to the head of government, the detained Russian citizen was to be recruited by Russian services, and his task was to execute an American and Ukrainian citizen, a man uncomfortable for Vladimir Putin's regime. Minister of peculiar Services Coordinator Tomasz Siemoniak reported that the operation was implemented in cooperation with the United States services.
This is no average crime communicative from Warsaw Street. If the findings of the investigators are confirmed, we will face an effort to transfer Russian political force to the NATO state. Poland becomes the base of the war in Ukraine, the logistics corridor of the West and the place of action of refugees, entrepreneurs, politicians and services. Moscow knows where to hit.
Poland cannot pretend to be surprised
Russia has been operating below the threshold of open war for years. Sabotage, arson, disinformation, recruitment of people who are weak or susceptible to money, attempts to fight Poles and Ukrainians. In July, ABW reported on a case in which The UPA subtitles were to be commissioned by Moscow. The mechanics is clear: Russia wants to sow chaos and then pretend that chaos has grown itself.
Therefore, the Polish State must act without hysteria, but without naivety. There is simply a request for efficient services, fast safety courts, control of susceptible environments and clear communication with citizens. Not to scare the public, but to take Moscow's surprise advantage.
Rate for Poles
For Poles the issue has a very circumstantial dimension. If abroad services can order a homicide in Warsaw, safety is no longer an abstract slogan from press conferences. It is about streets, train stations, companies, warehouses and people who work close war-related cases in Ukraine.
Nor should Russia be allowed to usage specified matters to break social emotions. Criticism of migration policy errors, benefits or relations with Kiev must stay in Polish hands, within the national interest. Moscow would like to turn any dispute into a tool of its own operation. Polish realism is not to be played.
Toughness Without Theatre
The good news is, the service worked, and the fishy was arrested. The bad news is: since this task was to be prepared in Warsaw, Russia is investigating our country without scruples. And parallel increases military pressure, due to the fact that Russian rocket production is growing and the full region must face a long conflict.
The Polish consequence cannot be limited to the post-stop message. We request a country that's resilient, who's guarding borders, infrastructure, financial flows, and an influence agent. Sovereignty begins with the ability to defend your own territory. In this case, the fact sounded very harsh.
