The RTV subscription will increase from January 2026. KRRiT approved fresh rates

From January 1, 2026 Poles will pay more for utilizing radio and tv receivers. National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) officially approved increases in subscription fees, explaining the request to adjust fees to the expanding costs of public service delivery. Although the increase is moderate, it will be noticeable for millions of households.

New RTV subscription rates from January 2026

In 2026 subscription fees will increase over 9% for radio and about 11% for tv sets or radio-television sets. The fresh rates will be:

  • 9.50 PLN per month for the radio receiver itself (until now: PLN 8.70),
  • PLN 30.50 per month for a tv set or radio-television set (not yet: 27.30 zł).

For those who pay fees regularly each month, the fresh yearly RTV subscription amount will be:

  • PLN 114,00 for radio (increase from PLN 104.40),
  • 366.00 zł for radio and tv (increase from PLN 327.60).

Discounts for upfront payment – inactive available

The KRRiT encourages the recipients to benefit from the benefits of the subscription in advance. The discount strategy shall stay unchanged and shall include:

  • 10% discount for the payment of the full year in advance, until 25 January 2026:
    • PLN 102,60 for radio,
    • PLN 329,40 For a set of radio and television.

In addition, another rebate options are available:

  • 3% discount for paying the subscription for 2 months in advance,
  • 4% discount 3 months in advance,
  • 5% discount Six months in advance.

It is worth remembering that discounts are charged on the monthly rate and can be beneficial especially for those planning a longer period of usage of services.

Where and how to pay RTV subscription?

In order to avoid additional costs and formalities, the KRRiT recalls that subscription fees may be paid:

  • in Polish Post Offices,
  • on the Polish Post website,
  • in banks and via e-transfers,
  • at selected buying and service pointswhich support payments for media, ZUS or KRUS, among others.

Fixed-term payment — up to on the 25th day of the first period of the accounting period concerned – guarantees that no additional punishment fees will be charged.

Who uses subscription fees?

Under applicable law, RTV subscription funds are only allocated to implementation of the public mission by:

  • Polish Television,
  • Polish Radio,
  • regional broadcasting companies.

It is from this money that information, educational, cultural, spiritual or documentary programmes are financed, whose production is not commercially viable, but is an crucial component in fulfilling the constitutional work to inform citizens.

Were the increases inevitable?

Although the increases are not crucial in percent terms, as the KRRiT points out, the rates are set at the lowest possible level, taking into account inflation, increased operating costs and the request to keep the quality of public programmes.

The last change in subscription rates occurred in 2023and prices have been comparatively unchangeable over the last years. Given the current economical situation, it can be concluded that the change in 2026 was expected.

Who is obliged to pay the subscription?

Let us remind – the work to pay RTV subscription concerns all households and companies that have a recorded radio or tv receiver. any social groups, including:

  • persons over 75 years of age,
  • persons with disabilities,
  • combatants and low-income persons, according to statutory criteria.

Exemptions shall be granted upon application and compliance with the conditions laid down in the Act.

Consequences of not paying the subscription

Non-payment of subscription fees may consequence in call for payment of arrears with interest, and even transfer the case to administrative execution. Officials may besides carry out control of the holding of unregistered receivers, although in practice checks are seldom carried out and require prior notification.

New RTV subscription rates since January 2026 mean for users moderate cost increase, however, while maintaining the current strategy of discounts, it will inactive be possible to make a favourable settlement of the obligation. The KRRiT stresses that higher influences will guarantee unchangeable financing of public media and further implementation of their statutory tasks, which, according to officials, is in the interests of all citizens.
