
After the start of the presidential run on the political stage, fresh faces and initiatives appear. Today, January 20, the election launch was announced by 75-year-old prof. Joanna Senyszyn.
In her appeal published on social media, she stressed the request to change power and introduce to the highest office in the country a individual who will represent the values of tolerance, justice and respect. Is Poland ready for the first president?
Joanna Senyszyn in the presidential election?
Prof. Joanna Senyszyn convinces that Poland needs a president – a female who is strong, independent and not submissive to organization pressure. As indicated in his Facebook statement:
"Women who bow down to no 1 and will be nobody's pen".
The entry besides stresses that for years of her academic and political work she sought to build an open and just society. Senyszyn proudly recalls his achievements, including the education of thousands of students who present work for tolerance and human rights.
Professional and political. Who is Joanna Senyszyn?
Joanna Senyszyn is simply a prof. of economical sciences, academic lecturer and publicist. During her career she served as Dean of the Management Department of the University of Gdańsk and Rector of the Higher School of Administration and Business in Gdynia. She was besides a Member, MEP and councillor of the Provincial Sejm.
Senishyn was associated with the Alliance of the Democratic Left for many years. In 2021, she decided to leave the group, which she felt had ceased to represent democratic values:
"SLD has been turned into a private farm, and citizens see it. Left loses support due to the fact that nobody wants to vote for a organization that destroys democratic procedures."
In the following years, she was briefly associated with the Polish Socialist Party, but left, accusing the leader Wojciech Nejne of deficiency of transparency.
First the Senate, then the Bureau. Request for signature collection
The effort to win a senator's mandate in the 2023 parliamentary election ended in failure for Joanna Senyszyn. According to the Regional Election Commission, more than 1 3rd of the signatures on the endorsement lists were affected by errors specified as deficiency of signature, illegible data or incorrect PESEL.
Although this situation has sparked a broad debate in the media, Senyszyn did not quit and decided to fight again – this time for the highest office in the state.
A female in politics – request to change?
Joanna Senyszyn points out the request for greater representation of women in politics, including the highest positions. In her opinion, Poland, as a democratic state, should take a step forward, breaking stereotypes and prejudice against women in power. As he points out:
"Every day we make Poland richer, more friendly and safer".
Reactions and Opportunities for Success
The announcement of Senishyn's candidacy met with mixed reactions. Supporters appreciate her experience and independence, while critics point to problems with erstwhile campaigns and deficiency of clear support in the structures of the left.
Despite these difficulties, prof. Senyszyn calls for support in collecting 100,000 signatures, which are essential to registry her candidacy. She stresses that success in politics is teamwork and asks for the sympathy to be active in promoting her campaign.
