It's about the PESEL numbers that the organization required in the title of the donation transfer. Ms Ko Agnieszka Pomaska reported the case to the individual Data Protection Office, fearing that PiS politicians could illegally usage donor data. In her notice, Pomaska cited the message of the Euro MP Tobias Bocheński of the Law and Justice Office, who stated that paying donations of 1 cent to make it hard for the Law and Justice to work, is to give us the strong contact details together.. Jarosław Kaczyński said likewise We'll know where the Strong Together are.
This relates to the rejection of the accounts of the Law and Justice Office by the State Election Commission and the simplification of grants. The grant of the organization will be reduced by about PLN 10.8 million and will be deprived of part of the subsidy. She so asked her constituents for financial support and began collecting donations. As the lawyer General confirmed, Adam Bodnar, specified action is lawful. However, policymakers were afraid by the practice of collecting PESEL numbers.
The Law and Justice doesn't care about GDPR?
UODO's press spokesperson, Karol Witowski, reported that in consequence to the reports concerning the possible misuse of donor data to PiS, the president of UODO Mirosław Wróblewski sent a letter to the president of PiS. Wróblewski asked Kaczyński to explain the collection of PESEL numbers from persons making payments to the party's account. The Ombudsman stated that Wróblewski asked Kaczyński to indicate how the organization fulfilled the information work set out in Article 13 of the GDPR (for information to be provided to persons from whom individual data are collected).
Kaczyński said on Monday that the organization would waive the request to enter the PESEL number in the title of the donation transfer to the PiS. He explained that the practice so far was due to interior organization regulations, but now PiS will search to facilitate the process of making payments.
Millions From Donors
The president of PiS announced on Thursday that about 50,000 people had already transferred donations to the PiS account, and he himself contributed PLN 10 thousand. If that wasn't enough, an additional 5,000 was donated to some organization that is not a political party.
At the same time Kaczyński called for more donors, arguing that more contributions really can bring very good results in defence of Polish independence.
The PiS Treasurer, Henryk Kowalczyk, reported on Wednesday that the parties managed to rise over PLN 4 million from donors.
