The distribution of computer equipment to schools throughout Poland begins - Deputy Minister of Digitalization Paweł Olszewski informed on Monday. As he submitted, the tender for 735,000 laptops, browser laptops and tablets with a full value of over PLN 1.5 billion was settled.PAP

The tender for 735,000 laptops, browser laptops and tablets for Polish schools with a full value of PLN 1.66 billion ended. Deputy Minister of Digitization Olszewski announced this in a post on platform X, calling the task the largest school retrofit task in history. The National Recovery and Enhancement Plan finances the investment.

The equipment goes to schools all over the country. Olszewski stressed that the task has "giving young people access to technology that evens the chances and opens the way to the competences of the future".

The Ministry of Digital Affairs informed at the end of November about the details of the allocation: 404 250 laptops for a maximum of PLN 1.17 billion gross, 110 250 browser laptops for a maximum of PLN 181.5 million gross and 220 500 tablets for a maximum of PLN 384.5 million gross. Students will usage equipment during school activities, with the anticipation to rent in peculiar cases according to school regulations.

Further investments

Tender is just the beginning of a bigger show. Olszewski announced that "with KPO we will spend over PLN 6 billion, due to the fact that this is only the beginning".

The plans include further investments: STEM labs, artificial intelligence laboratories and distant learning rooms. Future projects have "[...] will let students to learn in an environment akin to that in which modern engineers and technology developers work," the Deputy Minister wrote.

Ministry of Digitisation and Ministry of National Education implement the task jointly.
