"Rarely unsuitable"
After the change of power, the control at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister revealed that most of these funds went to media and right-wing conservative environments, and the subsidy was awarded outside the competition. The Foundation miscalculated the funds and over PLN 4.2 million were considered non-target and unprofitable expenditures, including besides advanced costs of hiring a speaker's payroom.
According to the study cited by ‘Rzeczpospolita’, although all the indicators of the task consequence have been achieved, the overarching nonsubjective of the task has not been achieved. Tomasz Sakiewicz, however, dements these allegations in a conversation with the newspaper. He claims that the task was accessible to all, regardless of their views, and 10 000 people were trained, including critics of the Law and Justice.
As he points out:
It's grossly unbecoming for trial. We didn't hide this task from anyone, volunteer for training or seminary, no substance what their views. 10 1000 people have been trained, including those who criticize us or the PiS.
Right-wing only project
Although Sakiewicz says that the task was not intended exclusively for people with circumstantial views, the results of the audit seem to show something completely different. For the control to which the Republic of Poland reached, it showed that the task “Academy of Democracy” was mainly utilized by a narrow group of people from right-wing conservative circles and readers of the media Tomasz Sakiewicz.
In addition, it was found that the foundation had wrongly settled public funds. With over PLN 4.2 million of grants, many were spent not on intent and economically. Here, for example, attention is paid to the excessive costs of renting rooms, overpaid speakers and wage of Joanna Jenerowicz, the president of the foundation. It downloaded PLN 8900 per period as a task coordinator. Despite the implementation of indicators, the project's nonsubjective has not been achieved.
Fight for the favour of the Law and Justice
In this context, attention should besides be paid to the ongoing fight of right-wing media. Both the Sakiewicz media and the Karnowski brothers compete for the PiS.
On August 30, Jarosław Kaczyński, in the company of leading organization politicians, criticized the activities of PKW at a press conference and announced a fundraiser for the PiS. This event was broadcast by almost all tv stations, but by tv Republic, which at the time reported the convention of the Polish paper Clubs and promoted the collection for the Independent Media Foundation. Only after criticism on social media was the Kaczyński conference shown on air.
There was speculation that the decision could have been deliberate, due to the position of Tomasz Sakiewicz in the Law and Justice as an crucial media figure. The situation is further exacerbated by the appearance of a fresh right-wing station, in Poland24, whose guest on the day of the debut was Jarosław Kaczyński.
PiS president commented on the competition of the station as follows:
I like that there's competition among us. The fact that there are 2 stations is simply a chance that the number of people who will hear the fact will be greater. There are different sensitivities, different types of reception levels, intellectual levels, and this must be taken into account here.
