377,000 PLN for a bent fence. There's money for that!

Jan Kochanowski Museum Park in Czarnolesa Stopped “Fence” installation by Monika Sosnowska. The work depicts a distorted fragment of a metallic barrier that looks like it was ripped from the ground along with massive concrete blocks. The museum convinces that steel mesh and concrete gain a "surprisingly poetic dimension". In fact, it is simply a promotion of anticulture, a mockery of the Tusk government from Poles and the memory of the Master Kochanowski.

377,000 PLN for a bent fence? In Poland, Tuska is an outstanding work of avant-garde art. Unfortunately, it is hard for most recipients to see poetics in this installation, or anything another than another scam. alternatively of artism, they see simply a bent section of the barrier and concrete elements resembling waste remaining after the renovation.

The full cost of the task amounted to about PLN 460 thousand, of which PLN 377 1000 was co-financing from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, via the “Storage in Public Space” programme. The application for backing was submitted by the Jan Kochanowski Museum in Czarnoles.

The sculpture itself is not a fresh work. "Fence" was established in 2010 and was previously presented in fresh York City, Bruton, UK, and the Middelheim Museum in Antwerp. Now she went to an outdoor art collection in Blackdale. Why did it cost so much money? It is not known, but it is certain that individual has “cuddled” them.

It can be said, of course, that contemporary art has the right to shock, provoke and encourage reflection. You can besides defend the artistic value of Sosnowska's work. However, the problem begins erstwhile a bill for specified experiments is issued to all taxpayers. 377,000 PLN of public co-financing is an amount that cannot be removed by touching the arms. Especially as Poland faces immense financial needs and a very advanced deficit. The Budget Act for 2026 provides for revenues of PLN 647.2 billion, expenditures of PLN 918.9 billion and deficits of PLN 271.7 billion.

The Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, led by utmost left-wing activist Marta Cienkowska, should primarily be a guardian of the Polish heritage, support its protection and popularisation and make conditions for the improvement of valuable culture. Meanwhile, state money is increasingly directed towards projects whose connection to this task is at least controversial.

"Fence" is simply a meaningful example of this. 1 can ask a very simple question: was there truly not more crucial needs in Polish culture than spending PLN 460 1000 to set up a bent section of the barrier in the park? For specified money you can save monuments, support libraries, preserve works of art, organize valuable educational projects or popularize the works of Polish classics. Meanwhile, the payer receives an installation whose artistic value must first be accepted on the basis of a complex description of the "auura of mystery" and the "poetic dimension" of concrete.

This is the essence of the problem with the strategy of financing pseudoart. If individual wanted to spend his own money on a bent barrier and considered it a masterpiece — his case. However, the State has a work to manage the money taken from citizens in taxes much more carefully. Culture should not be an excuse for any expense, and art does not become valuable simply due to the fact that it was chosen by the left-wing committee and bears a decently sounding, catchy description and abroad name.

In this sense, the problem of "Fence" is wider than 1 sculpture. This is simply a question of what culture the Tuska State wants to finance. A culture that delights, educates and builds a community, or possibly an anticulture, in which a simple part of barrier is adequate to transform into a "poetic object", and then justify spending hundreds of thousands of gold on it from taxpayers' money. To the delight of the “author” of course.

OUR COMMENTS: backing this abomination is not even spitting in the face of citizens, but a brazen, sadistic defecation on our faces. Especially due to the fact that at the same time hundreds of thousands of Polish monuments are destroyed in silence, due to the fact that they have been deprived of resources for conservation. For this there is no money.
