On 11 July, the 31st anniversary of the death of a priest, who became celebrated for his patriotic commitment during the period of the Polish People's Republic. The communist authorities took revenge on him with various harassments and repressions, including imprisonment, first in the execution home on Rakowiecka Street in Warsaw and then in the prison in Braniewo.
Let us remind that Fr Sylwester Zych already in the second half of the 1970s initiated the action of hanging crosses in schools and kindergartens in Fat. In 1982, he was accused of attempting to overthrow the power of the PRL strategy and belonging to an armed organization. This had to do with the death of Sergeant MO, Zdzisław Karos. In custody, he was humiliated and humiliated, threatened to die many times.
After his release, Fr Zych was constantly watched by the secret services of the Polish People's Republic. Almost all day he received threats – telephone, on post cards. He was assaulted and beaten respective times by unknown perpetrators.
In 1987, a clergyman wrote his will. “I feel that my day is coming—the time of gathering with the Lord, who made me his priest. I am a solidarity heart with everyone who strives for free and independent Poland. May the good God bless you and make us meet on the ruins of the commune," he wrote.
Shortly after, he became chaplain of the Warsaw Confederation of Independent Poland.
On the night of July 11, 1989, a fewer months after the circular table was completed, the body of a clergyman was found at the bus station in Krynica Morska. The investigating prosecutor failed to take into account traces on the victim's body, which were already found during the autopsy – broken ribs and head injuries, most likely caused by a baton.
Fr Zych was decorated by the president of the Republic of Poland in exile, Ryszard Kaczorowski, the Golden Cross of Merit with Swords, and by the president of Lech Kaczyński with the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta
