The legislature supported changes in the Labour Code, which aim to increase wage transparency and destruct the wage gap between women and men. The amendment introduces advanced penalties for employers who will not pay in the announcement or offer a lower wage than declared.

New obligations of employers – what changes?

During the gathering of the legislature committees – Legislative and Family, elder and Social Policy – an amendment was adopted which requires employers to supply information on remuneration in a clear and timely manner. 11 senators voted for the change, no 1 opposed it, and 6 abstentions.

Under the fresh rules, the employer will gotta specify the amount of remuneration in the following situations:

  • in the occupation notice (Wage visions – minimum and maximum amount),
  • before the interview (if there was no notice),
  • before signing the contract (if not previously provided).

In addition, employees will gain the right to request information about their wage and average earnings in the company – broken down by gender. This is to aid fight wage discrimination.

Penalties up to PLN 30 1000 – erstwhile do they endanger employers?

The amendment provides for severe sanctions for employers who:

  • they will not pay in the notice,
  • offer a lower wage than declared.

The fine can scope from PLN 1 000 to PLN 30 000.

Will the fresh government truly destruct the pay gap?

The changes aim at expanding wage transparency and combating inequalities. However, their effectiveness will depend on the enforcement of the government by the State Labour Inspectorate and the awareness of the workers themselves.
