On the northern flank of Torecka, Russian forces are trying to take control of the town of Druzba located on the outskirts.

The dynamic nature of fighting in this part of the city prevents the Russians from full controlling the area of the blocks, leaving it disputed.
Furthermore, the Russian defeat in establishing fire control around the blocks allowed Ukrainian forces to conduct reconnaissance missions along Central Street, deep behind Russian lines.
This forced the Russians to change the gravity point, trying to stabilise the situation by extending control around Central Street and moving towards Darwin and Pusharenka streets.
Their advancement was supported by the fact that Ukrainian positions in this area consisted of tiny housing houses that Russian stormers initially captured but were rapidly detained by Ukrainian soldiers.
Overall, the Russian plan to rapidly pass through Toreck and divide the city into 2 parts was cancelled due to unexpected strong Ukrainian opposition in the tactically crucial area of the blocks and counterattack in the Druzba.
As Russian forces fought to safe the blocks, the command had to redirect troops to the flank's protection along Central Street, preventing possible front line collapse.
Ukrainian counterattacks yet stopped the Russian offensive, after months of gradual slowing down.
The front stabilised, moving the initiative in favour of the Ukrainians.
