30 years ago - 1 September 1996 - Krzysztof Wielicki by a lonely entrance to Nanga Parbat closed his journey to the Himalayan Crown and Karakorum, which means taking 14 of all the 8 thousandths of the world.

He did this as the 5th mountaineer in past and second Pole - after Jerzy Kukukzka.

The historical feat - the first winter entrance to the highest highest of the globe (8848 m) - was made with Leszek Silenty on 17 February 1980 during an expedition led by the precursor of winter mountaineering Andrzej Zawada.

Writing his past of conquest of the 8,000 Wielicki conquerors ended 16 years later - a lonely climb to Pakistani massif Nanga Parbat (8126 m).
