The Toruń territory Court sentenced Venezuelan 20-year-old Yomeykert S. to a full of 25 years and 1 period imprisonment for execution with peculiar cruelty combined with the rape of 24-year-old K. Claudio, PhD student at Nicolaus Copernicus University. The attack occurred in June 2025 in Glasia Park, Toruń. A female died a twelve days later in the hospital. The conviction is invalid.
The trial began on 11 June and was held excluding disclosure. On Wednesday, the court declared its judgement at a public sitting, but did not state its reasons.
Yomeykert S. was found guilty of execution in connection with the rape of a 24-year-old PhD student in English philology at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. The court sentenced him to 25 years of imprisonment and 1 period of imprisonment for this act and to criminal threats against another person. The conviction of imprisonment was credited with the sentence.
In addition, the court obliged him to pay PLN 250 1000 as a partial compensation to persons representing the rights of the victim.
The event occurred on the night of 11 to 12 June 2025, at around 1.10, in the Glasia Park close Toruń Peace Square. Claudia K. besides worked as a bartender at the Toruń Old Town and returned home after she finished her job.
The attacker was horrified by a witness who heard a female cry for aid and ran out of his apartment. Police shortly detained a suspect, who turned out to be a 19-year-old Venezuelan citizen.
According to the findings of the investigation, the female was attacked and stabbed respective twelve times. She suffered extended head, neck, and chest injuries. Despite medical assistance, she died on 27 June 2025 in a infirmary as a consequence of injuries.
