Officers of the Silesian Border defender Branch one more time proved their effectiveness in maintaining the migration order in Poland. As the SG reported in an authoritative release published on Friday, a full of 21 foreigners were detained who were illegally residing in our country. The detention took place in respective cities of the Silesian and Opole Voivodeship.

"The officers of the SG in Sosnowiec, Ruda Śląski, Bielsko-Biała, Częstochowa and Opole have retained 8 Colombians, 3 Turkmens, 3 Uzbeks and 2 Georgians as part of the verification of the legality of the stay. The another people are citizens of Morocco, Turkey, Bangladesh, Venezuela and Uganda," the Communication states.

During the checks, no of the detainees were able to present papers legalising their stay in Poland. In any cases foreigners declared a different reason for their stay than they actually did.

The Border defender has no uncertainty that actions taken against persons violating the provisions of the residence law are essential and compatible with the applicable rules. “By yesterday 20 people had already issued decisions requiring them to leave in the period from 10 to 30 days and prohibiting their return to the Schengen States for a period of 6 months to 3 years”, the SG informed.

The case of a Ugandan citizen who turned out to be illegally staying in Poland for 547 days was of peculiar interest to the services. In his case, actions are presently underway to decide to leave Poland.

Border defender activities are part of a systematic review of the legality of abroad residence, which aims to guarantee the safety of the State and to comply with global and national law on migration.
