The Municipal Electoral Commission accepted 12 candidates for president of Krakow by 3 September; 4 people were registered at the time of the closing date. An early vote will take place on 27 September following the appeal of Alexander Miszaliski in a referendum. However, the number of applications does not find how many candidates will be on the card.
Twelve notifications before deadline
The deadline for submitting candidates for president of Krakow was 3 September at 16 p.m. The president of the Municipal Election Commission Krzysztof Dyl informed that the committee had received papers from 12 people. 4 candidatures were already registered at that time, and the others were waiting for signatures and documentation to be checked.
Among those reported were Michał Drewnicki from PiS, Monika Piątkowska supported by KO and PSL, Jan Hoffman, Aleksandra Owiec from the organization Together, Marian Banaś, Bartosz Bocheńczak from the Confederation, Łukasz Gibala from the Kraków Committee for Residents, Daria Gosek-Popiołek from the Left, Michał Klimek from the Confederation of the Polish Crown, Stanisław Kułach, Sławomir Pietrzyk from the Social Democrats and Marta Ratuszinska.
The application is not equivalent to registration. The candidate had to present at least 3,000 valid signatures of residents included in the electoral register. The Commission shall examine the lists and may refuse registration if the requirements have not been met.
Gibala completed the signatures
The loudest dispute active Luke Gibala. The Commission initially contested a large part of its signatures, inter alia due to the deficiency of the word ‘Kraków’ at the addresses of the supporters. The candidate provided further letters and reported the registration on September 4. Earlier problem with signatures was described in detail.
Documents of the Municipal Election Commission they besides show that the procedure works both ways. The Commission adopted a resolution refusing to registry Stanisław Kułach's application. The final election card can so number less names than the list of 12 applications submitted before the deadline.

The fresh president won't take the city with a clean slate. Miszalski's successor will besides take over the existing financial and investment problems of Kraków. The run should so cover the cost of living, transport, housing, safety and quality of municipal services, alternatively than the name competition itself.
Kraków needs a host
Twelve candidates submitted give voters a wide choice, but the number itself does not warrant quality.
