The CSO stated that at the end of 2025 1,513 million permanent residents of Poland were temporarily abroad at least 12 months. This is 49.4 1000 little than in 2020, but the scale remains huge: Poland is inactive losing people, jobs, families and part of its own future.

Data leaves no illusions

By Central Statistical Office At the end of 2025, 1 513.4 1000 permanent residents of Poland were temporarily residing outside the country, if there were 12 months and more. The CSO points out that these are not migration streams, that is, the number of trips per year. It is simply a state at the end of the year, showing how many people stay outside Poland for a long time.

That difference is important. Numbers from the table must not be summed up due to the fact that they do not describe the subsequent waves of departures. However, they show something politically and socially more serious: a permanent resource of Polish emigration. In 2020-2025 it fell from 1 562.8 1000 to 1 513.4 1000 people. That's 49.4 grand less. Compared to 2024, the decrease was 20,8 1000 people.

The CSO besides clarified methodology. Data for the years 2020-2024 are a revision of erstwhile estimates, and values for 2025 are forecast. It's a fair statistical reservation, but it doesn't change political sense. More than 1 and a half million people connected to their permanent residence with Poland live for a long time outside the country. A country that wants to think nationalally cannot go over it.

Europe continues to attract emigration from Poland

The largest part of long-term temporary migration remains in Europe. At the end of 2025, the CSO estimated this group at 1,373.1,000 people. There were 835,3 1000 Polish residents in the European Union and 537,8 1000 in European non-EU countries. This is further proof that the Polish demographic and economical problem does not take place in abstraction. It is played on a circumstantial labour market, in circumstantial families and in circumstantial portfolios.

The UK remains the largest destination, where 412.4,000 people were residing according to the CSO tables. It is followed by Germany with a consequence of 385.5 thousand, the Netherlands with 129.9 thousand, Norway with 76.0 1000 and Ireland with 66.7 thousand. The United Kingdom itself and Germany bring together 797.9 1000 specified migrants, or more than half of the full estimated stock. This is simply a good starting point for a wider map of Poles' emigrationBecause the directions of the trips show not only geography, but besides the hierarchy of economical magnets.

The most painful years of work

The strongest signal in the data can be seen at the age of migrants. In the group of 35-39 years, the CSO indicated 236.5 1000 people. There were 199,0 1000 in the group 30-34 years, 191,6 1000 in the group 40-44 years and 146,8 1000 in the group 25-29 years. These are years of work, establishing families, paying taxes, buying apartments and building Polish capital.

Each specified journey has a human history, frequently rational from the point of view of a peculiar family. The problem begins erstwhile the sum of private decisions becomes a national account. If talented, working people lay down lives in Birmingham, Berlin, Oslo or Dublin, Poland loses more than the current tax. She loses part of the social energy that cannot be replaced by a minister's press conference.

Regions pay their own price

In the provincial division, the largest states of emigration were attributed in 2025 to Małopolska, Silesia and Podkarpacie. For Małopolska it was 151,1 1000 people, for Śląski it was 145,8 1000 and for Podkarpackie it was 140,0 thousand.

Such figures show that emigration is not just a slogan from the tv debate. It is simply a failure in local communities, parishes, schools, household companies and local governments. In tiny towns, you can peculiarly see what it means to leave young adults. Older parents, empty homes, weaker local markets and increasingly hard maintenance of public services remain.

Return Policy alternatively of Decoration

The decline from 1,5628 million to 1,5134 million can be noted as a good change. However, a sensible state will not make a propaganda success of this. The scale is inactive great, and demography is simply a substance of sovereignty for Poland. The nation does not last thanks to the tables in strategies. Thanks to families, work, property, safety and the belief that in Poland it is possible to live decently.

Therefore, GUS data must be read together with demographic forecasts for Poland. If you talk about improvement and you can't keep your own citizens and residents, then its improvement will become more and more paper. We request a return policy, a cheaper state, greater economical freedom, real support of families and conditions for building Polish property in Poland.

The stakes are simple: people or emptiness

Emigration from Poland is decreasing, but it has not disappeared. More than 1.5 million people abroad are reminded that modern patriotism does not end with ceremony and flag. It must include wages, housing, taxes, household safety and respect for work.

The national state should not only ask how many people have left. He should ask how many he wants to come back and what he needs to do to make it not a sentimental dream but a sensible decision. This is where real demographic policy begins.
