Day 798.
Today there are many updates from Kurachowe direction
Here the Russian forces resumed the attack operations on Wuhledar, 1 of the main points in this direction, which is inactive maintained by Ukrainian forces
Wuhledar has an additional symbolic importance, as Russian forces have repeatedly attempted to attack Wuhledar from the south in the last 2 years and have always suffered catastrophic losses, including a devastating defeat in 1 of the largest battles of the battle.
The key function of Wuhledar is based on 2 main factors
First of all, Wuhledar is highly operational due to the fact that it is located on a dominant hill
If we look at the topographical map, we will see that Wuhledar is on a crucial hill above an area further south.
However, areas in the east are at a akin height, and the Russians have already tried to usage this by conducting attacks along the ridge.
Secondly, from a logistics point of view, Wuhledar has been a key supply hub since the beginning of the war due to the proximity of 2 crucial roads: road 0509 from Wielka Nowosilki to Nowotroitskie and road 0532 which leads from Wuhledar to Marinka.
However, given the current situation on the front, its top importance is that it constitutes a powerful barrier that the Russians have not been able to overcome in months
In the last fewer days, Russian forces have begun preparations for storm operations from the south and east
Russian forces published dramatic recordings of extended artillery preparations on Wuhledar and Ukrainian fortifications around it
As you can see in the pictures, the city is now completely destroyed, although Ukrainian forces inactive control valuable positions in advanced buildings.
Ukrainian forces responded to a dense Russian fire, trying to weaken the preparation of Russian forces in Russian-controlled settlements in the south.
Geolocation movie material shows Ukrainians hitting the concentration of Russian forces in the village of Pawliwka, southwest of Wuhledar.
One of the geolocation films shows how Ukrainians located the position with a hidden Russian device weapon operator, which they then attacked with large accuracy with an FPV kamikaze drone.
Drone operators virtually managed to fly into the home through the front door and detonate the explosive.
Another video shows how Russian soldiers sought refuge in the workshop immediately after the first attack.
As they entered, they were subsequently attacked by kamikaze drones and grenades dropped from drones.
Finally, the recording published by Ukrainian counterbattery teams shows how Ukrainians hit Russian Haubica D-30 north of Kyryliwka village as part of extended counterbattery operations.
After the first hit damaged the missile, all the Russian ammunition exploded.
Since the frontal attack by surprise failed, Russian forces in the next phase applied lap tactics and attempted to environment the fortress
This time, in addition to the southwest axis of the attack, Russian forces besides tried to approach Solodka.
A geo-localized recording published by soldiers from the 72nd Mechanized Brigade and 79th Self-Storm Brigade shows a Russian mechanized attack with respective armoured infantry vehicles that Ukrainians managed to disrupt artillery and drone fire.
As seen in the video, the Russians initially moved along the tree lines moving parallel to the railway tracks, but at any point they were forced to pass through open fields with almost no cover, most likely due to greater density of Ukrainian mines in the area, which inevitably facilitated the work of Ukrainian defenders.
Russian armored vehicles were attacked by a series of kamikaze drones until they were immobilized.
The crew tried to get to the shelter, but was eliminated by grenades dropped off the drones.
Interestingly, as can be seen in all recordings from FPV drones, there is no failure of video signal until it collides with targets, indicating that comparatively old models of Russian tanks and armored vehicles, specified as T-62 tanks, are not equipped with radio-electronic combat equipment.
Moreover, respective Russian vehicles were equipped with basic mine-mine equipment, which is another indicator that the area was heavy mined by the Ukrainian army.
